Abstract

Cyanide poisoning with suicidal intent is very rare, as a certain basic chemical knowledge and access to the necessary substances are necessary. Precisely for this reason, uncertainties in handling and ignorance of the hazardous substance can lead to incorrect treatment and incorrect procedures at the emergency site. Simple operational keywords (without knowledge of the chemical) such as suicide, threat of suicide or chemicals do not help in the mental preparation for the mission, on the drive to the scene or when considering protective clothing and/or antidotes. © 2022.
