Abstract

Although pregnancy and birth should be, and often are, a time of great joy for new and expectant parents, many struggle with mental illness during this period. Universal screening for perinatal depression and anxiety in this population can help ensure affected women and partners receive the support and treatment they need, which may include medication, inpatient care in a mother-baby unit or community support. © MedicineToday 2022.
