Abstract

Though Filipinx Americans continue to face high rates of suicide compared to their ethnic and racial counterparts, a culturally sensitive model that considers their unique Indigenous values and distinct sociocultural history has not yet been developed. This article decolonizes the Interpersonal Theory of Suicide (ITS) for use with Filipinx American clients. Culturally responsive strategies for counseling, community outreach, and research with Filipinx Americans who may be at risk for suicide are also outlined © 2022. American Psychological Association
