OBJECTIVE: To characterize adolescents with suicidal behavior treated in a pediatric emergency service.

METHODS: An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out from November 2020 to January 2022. The variables are described: age, sex, origin, triggering situation and form of the suicide attempt.

RESULTS: Predominance was found between 15 and 18 years of age (84%), female (80%); in 62% the adolescents were of urban origin; In 40% of the cases, the main triggering problem was family problems and the form of the attempt was the ingestion of medications (65%).
