Abstract

This article aims to demonstrate how the problematization of "the self" and "time", both central elements in Jaime Gil de Biedma's poetics, are a direct consequence of the poet's reflection on Robert Langbaum's ideas about the poetry of experience. Although critics widely acknowledge the presence of these elements in the author's poetics, the connection between them has not been sufficiently explored. Finally, my hypothesis is that the conjunction of these three factors had a significant influence on the exhaustion of the author's creative capacity. © 2021 Mariana Iglesias Arellano
