Abstract

The original version of this article unfortunately contained a mistake. The second sentence of the Introduction should read as: In 2016, the crude suicide rate in Japan was 18.5 per 100,000, and the age-standardized rate was 14.3 per 100,000 (World Health Organization 2019). These rates were 75% and 36% higher, respectively, compared to the global averages of 10.6 per 100,000 (crude) and 10.5 per 100,000 (age-standardized; World Health Organization 2018, 2019).
