Abstract

In the paper the author analyses the New Latin epigrams by Andreas Cricius (1482-1537) connected with Lucretia and with the figure of Jacobus Piso (? -1527), a legate of the Pope Julius II, produced probably in the year 1510. The epigrams refer to the illusion of painting, concern the painterly illustra-tion of Lucretia's suicide to which they assign moral-pedagogical, aesthetic, and ethic aims. Rich literary allusions of satirical character in Cricius' epigrams are directed against Piso--they are satirical depiction of the legate's homosexual preferences. © 2020, Instytut Badan Literackich PAN - Wydawnictwo.
