Abstract

According to national organizations, mental health issues and suicide rates in adolescents are high, and children needing mental health care are not receiving it (National Alliance on Mental Illness, 2019; National Center for Children in Poverty, 2019; National Institute of Mental Health, 2019). Depression and adverse childhood experiences can occur in young children and can carry over into adulthood (Boullier & Blair, 2018). The purpose of this article is to highlight the current situation in children's mental health and present recommendations and opportunities for health care providers to intervene. © 2020, Anthony J.
