Abstract

This review submits a critical overview of the new edition of the National Handbook of Suicidology, which has been edited by Professor B.S. Polozhy and released by the Meditsinskoye Informatsionnoye Agentstvo Publishers in 2019. The topicality of this book is determined by two main factors: The not so favorable situation in this country as far as suicides are concerned - which calls for improving the quality of suicidological care and suicide prevention, and the absence of literature based on contemporary suicidological knowledge. This Handbook is of great scientific and practical significance for psychiatry and for medicine as a whole, as it provides specialists with the scientific information and the practical skills of modern suicidology. © 2019, V.
