Abstract

Considering the high consumption of benzodiazepines worldwide, there is increased potential for addiction and abuse in cases of crime, driving under the influence of drugs, suicide and drug-facilitated sexual assault (DFSA). For these reasons, this class of drugs and their metabolites are frequently present in both clinical and forensic cases. Therefore, it is important to develop an efficient sample preparation procedure as well as method able to determine benzodiazepines in different matrices. In this article the information concerning the current available analytical methods for the determination of tranquilizers in biological materials and pharmaceutical formulations are reviewed. Developed methods are classified as chromatography ( TLC). The present work is mainly based on drug screening through TLC. In this study the comparison was made between Rf-value and standard Rf-value to establish the identity. © 2018, Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology. All rights reserved.
