Abstract

INTRODUCTION: In all societies, poisoning is a major mental health problem, and it is very important from a psychological and sociological point of view. Every year, many people suffer from various illnesses, including intentional or accidental or criminal poisoning. Mild to hospitalize in the ICU and die, with a lot of economies, imposes family and community.

METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, retrospective data were collected from cases referring to legal medicine in Yasuj city that have been lost due to poisoning and analyzed by SPSS software using descriptive statistics methods and analyzed.

RESULTS: In this study, 56 people died due to poisoning with poisoning factors, of which 41 (73.2%) were male and 15 (26.8%) were females and 48% were unemployed in terms of employment. The age range of the deceased was 6 to 56 years old, with an average age of 26.35 years poisoning and the highest poisoning in the age group of 20-29 years with 44.64%. 38 (67.9%) were without cause and 13 (23.2%) were deliberately poisoned and died, and the most pathogenic route was oral (55.4%) and then inhalation (30%).The most common causes of death were related to the respiratory system (51.8%) and then organ dysfunction (42.9%). The most common cause of death was related to drug poisoning (46.4%) and then carbon monoxide poisoning (33.9%).

CONCLUSION: The results showed that the most common cause of death is related to drug poisoning and is the main route of oral poisoning. Also, most death-related complications are related to respiratory distress. © 2019, Advanced Scientific Research. All rights reserved.
