Abstract

Ideological and moral-spiritual struggle as forms of counteraction to terrorism and specifically to suicidal one in contemporary world is examined. The ways of Quran interpretation that are used by extremist groups for explanation of their activity and recruitment of potential suicide terrorists are analyzed. Specific character of Islamic people perception of organizations' activity named by the Western world as terrorist is described. Different directions of counteraction to terrorism are marked out, long-term confrontation in ideological sphere being in the first place. Peculiarities of socio-psychological methods' application (along with others, military confrontation, for example) as instruments in the system of struggle with terrorism are considered. Their capacity to prevent joining terrorist group by new members, to account disagreements inside the group when affecting it, to support discontinuing members; to reduce influence of group leaders arid their support by the group members are emphasized. The importance of understanding of terrorists' moral-spiritual motivation, differences of their religious beliefs with canonical Islam and necessity to use them in organization of counteraction to terrorism are revealed.
