Abstract

Weapon of suicide attempts is usually placed under the chin or into the mouth. Defect location and width, which is affected by the extension of the head and the grip angle of the arm, determine the prosthetic treatment options.In this clinical report prosthetic rehabilitation of large maxillary and mandibular defect formed as a result of suicide attempts with firearms is presented. 44-year-old male patient presented to our clinic with complaints about the 14 years old maxillary and mandibular defect prosthesis. Nose and symphysis region after the accident surgically autogenous grafts that are configured with, fit completely to a deterioration speech, swallowing and chewing difficulties.Clinical and radiological examination for the construction of implant-supported overdentures there is not enough bone after restoring of the teeth, maxillary obturator prosthesis in the upper jaw, lower jaw while partial dentures are made with metal base. Most of the maxillary and mandibular defect in patients with conventional prosthetic applications satisfactory results are obtained. © 2016, Cumhuriyet Dent J. All rights reserved.
