Abstract

BACKGROUND: The high rate of suicide in women has drawn many researchers' attention to different phases of menstrual cycle as a biological factor.

AIM OF THE STUDY: The purpose of the study is to know the relationship between menstrual cycle and hanging. Materials and method: A cross sectional study of a total of 34 cases of hanging was conducted in the Department of Forensic Medicine, S.S.G. Hospital mortuary, attached to Government Medical College, Baroda over a period of 12 months from October 2013 to September 2014.

RESULTS: Total number of cases of hanging during study period was 33. Mean age of females was 26.24 years.

CONCLUSION:-There is significant relationship between suicide by hanging in women during reproductive age group and menstruation. © 2016, World Informations Syndicate. All rights reserved.
