Abstract

Concerning the high global suicide rate, the WHO requests in its recent report "Preventing suicide: a global imperative" that special focus be placed on national suicide prevention. In this respect, the position of the occupational physician in a company is unique, having the possibility to influence both individual and environmental prevention concerning the risk of suicide. Furthermore, an occupational physician can provide support for employees who witness a suicide. © 2014, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
