Abstract

We present the perception of 10 patients hospitalized for attempted suicide/suicidal ideation, about the aid received during the period of their hospitalization. We used a qualitative technique through an interview performed one week after the medical discharge. The results show that patients evaluate favorably the aid received. They distinguish the technical and the relational aspects in the interactions both with professionals as well as with the other patients. In the results there is an emphasis in the characteristics of the "talking" and "sharing", factors considered as particularly therapeutic. The novelty of this research approach is that the results are based on the point of view of the patients and the value they assign to the relationship with other patients as therapeutic. In addition, there is collection of perceptions regarding a variety of other interventions. © 2015 Fundación AIGLÉ.
