Abstract

As an example for the structure of conflicts in modern society, the contribution turns to the recent debate on assisted suicide in Germany. Conflicts in modern society can be described as translation-conflicts, which are characterized by the insuperable incongruity of different functional logics and "final values". The difference of perspectives basically can't be overcome but still punctiform translations can be observed permanently. A draft bill for regulating assisted suicide serves as an example for showing that the social figure of the professional doctor is one of the possibilities, which enable those translation-processes. © 2015 Schwabenverlag AG.
