Abstract

The actual discussion in Germany on medical assistance in suicide is attributed to the international development in this field, lasting since more than three decades. The background as well as international experiences concerning medical decisions at the end of life will be described. In spite of different important kinds of resistance the debate seems to continue and even intensify in the future. © Schattauer 2015.
