Abstract

The cases of near hanging may show complete recovery, cause serious morbidity or can result in delayed mortality. The victims of near hanging need prompt treatment primarily to ensure cerebral oxygenation. Besides intensive therapy, psychological assessment and psychotherapy is an essential component in management of survivors of attempted suicides. We report one such case of near hanging from Nepal where distinct EEG changes were observed during psychological assessment and therapy. © 2015 South India Medico-Legal Association.
