Abstract

The breakup of partnership may be a trigger for mental disorder, especially the adjustment disorder, may contribute to relapse of mental disorders or decompensation of the physical condition, suicide or aggressive behavior. The most important therapeutic approach is supportive psychotherapy, which helps to understand what happen with the person in adaptation to the breakup and provides the space to express negative emotions. Cognitive behavioral therapy allows adaptive management of the crisis and finds a new balance and meaningful content to life.
