Abstract

A 74 year-old female presented with chemical burns caused by ingestion of insecticide and kitchen cleanser for a suicide attempt resulted in posterior glottic adhesion. As initial treatment the scar tissue was removed with CO2 laser, but re-adhesion occurred within 1 month. In the second operation, scar excision and intracordal injection of triamcinolone acetonide were performed. Readhesion has not occurred after the second procedure. Local injection of steroid is effective for preventing a post traumatic scarring.
