Abstract

Recently a number of work-related suicides have occurred, sometimes on the employment site itself. The study of a sensational new and the analysis of many popular books on this subject uncover the existence of a prevailing view which brings in the foreground the social determinism and tends to minimise or deny the role that individual psychopathological factors play in these suicides. This view contradicts the acquired data of suicidology. The simplistic and reductionistic character of this sociological and political interpretation of suicide is emphasized. It can lead to challenge treatment. © 2013 Elsevier Masson SAS.
