Abstract

A retrospective epidemiological study was carried out of the hospitalized patients in the Department of Toxicology for adults, Clinic of Toxicology - MHATEM 'N.I. The results of the study show the following: Acute exogenous poisoning accounted for around 60% of diseases, severe toxoallergic reactions - for about 40% of them, in 2009, 2010 and 2011, respectively. There is a high proportion of patients with suicide attempts. The frequency of deaths for the period under review was 1.50%. Lethality was highest in 2010. Mortality is higher in male patients. Most deaths occur in the patients aged over 40 years - three quarters of them with a fatal outcome.
