Abstract

A case of cervical injury caused by a nail-gun Yukihiro Hiraga, MD, et al. Division of Otolaryngology, Yamanashi Prefectural Central Hospital, Kofu A 69-year-old man, who committed suicide himself by a nail-gun underwent emergency tracheotomy and removal of nails because of the X-ray and CT scan findings with 8 nails in the right cervical area. Despite a massive hemorrhage from the cervical vertebra after the removal of nails, the surgery was securely undertaken. On the 40th day after the surgery, he recovered to a good outcome with no neurological deficits. To the best of our knowledge based on a thorough search of the literature, there was one report other than ours regarding a nail-gun injury in the cervical lesion.
