Abstract

A decapitated body of a 35-year-old man was found on the side of railway track in the early morning. The relatives told to police that the deceased was depressed due to domestic problem and used to take alcohol very frequently. After investigation it was found that, at home he first consumed alcohol and inflicted fatal cuts over the wrist to commit suicide, but immediate death was not happened. He went to nearby railway track and put his neck below a running train resulted in complete decapitation and instantaneous death. After failure of first method a subsequent fatal method used by victim for the purpose of suicide, hence it is an unplanned complex suicide. In complex suicide various methods used, but combine methods of fatal wrist cut and complete decapitation by train is a rarity. © 2013 South India Medico-Legal Association. All rights reserved.
