Abstract

Incidence of atrocities on women has currently drawn maximum attention in India and corrective measures are taken by way of legislation (e.g. Protection of women from domestic violence Act 2005 in India) and other social means to eliminate violence against at home and at workplace. In the present case a dead body of 28 years old female was found hanged inside her house. On the post mortem examination, we found a ligature mark of hanging around the neck. The body of deceased also had multiple ante-mortem injuries in form of contusion and scratch abrasions of about one day old duration. These injuries were the sign of domestic violence which could have compelled victim to commit suicide. The cause of death was asphyxia due to hanging.
