Abstract

Euthanasia is a sensitive and controversial issue in bioethics. Its origin dates to the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and it developed, as a socio-cultural problem, only in the twentieth century. In this paper, the authors emphasize the most significant historical steps of euthanasia, giving a brief overview of the concepts behind supporters and opponents of euthanasia.
