Abstract

Intentional carbon monoxide poisoning by burning charcoal is often used in Asia. After the first case, which occurred in 1998, charcoal burning became the second most common method in Hong Kong by 2001 and mass media played a key role in promoting this method. With the first case noticed in March 2008 an increase of cases can also be seen at the Institute for Forensic Medicine in Munich. Detailed instructions can be found on internet platforms. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
