Abstract

A dialogue with the anonymous psychiatrist, Dr. E., is presented, dealing with the nature of the ethical values underlying psychoanalytic psychotherapy. A difficult clinical case is the focus of the discussion-that of a woman who was not to be deterred from committing suicide and whose deadly plans appeared to raise serious ethical questions for the clinician. © The International Association for Psychoanalytic Self Psychology.
