Abstract

Suicide attempt is not a commonly encountered phenomenon in the childhood period. The eight-year-old girl was brought to the emergency service after taking vast amount of drugs. The initial impression was "drug intoxication"; however, when the patient's family history was deepened, it was learnt that the girl took the drugs with the intention of committing suicide. With this case presentation we want to draw attention to the risk that suicide attempts may be misinterpreted in the children who are brought to the emergency service polyclinics.
