Abstract

Recent and spectacular events of suicide at the job place, or job related suicide lead us to reflect on how the role of psychology and work medicine is evolving. Faced with the signs of fatigue linked to organizational evolution, both the psychologist and the work physician have to leave their office to meet salaried workers on their turf. Pluridisciplinary team intervention makes this process easier and richer. The issue is to understand what fatigue indicates on the organization of work, through the words of the workers, whether in individual interview or in group discussion. How to keep working well and in a secure environment? How to keep working well in a place going out of business? The work clinic allows us to view work as a privileged ground for mediation between psychic economy and social environment, between singular and collective. It aims at gaining back the power of action, developing individual and collective possibilities, and restoring health.
