Abstract

Parasiticide is the attempted suicide, emphasizing that in most such attempt death is not the desired outcome and are the acts of non-fataldeliberate selfharm. Rarely a medicolegal expert is called to deal with these kinds of cases as they are less often officially reported. These cases should not be underestimated because of chances of having repetition of the same act and residual temporary or permanent disability it leaves. It is of immense important to investigate these cases thoroughly about various risk factors, socio-demographic patterns etc. Psychiatric evaluation and psycho-social management of these cases are equally essential. This presentation is concluded with an emphasis on the legal liabilities ofparasuicide.
