Abstract

In Germany, about 19% of the population have a migration background. People with German nationality have higher suicide rates than with foreign nationalities. However, increased suicide risk in immigrants was repeatedly found in epidemiological studies, but suicide rates of immigrants varied depending on suicide rates in the country of birth. German and international studies on migration and suicide were reviewed and discussed.
