Abstract

The Lethality of Suicide Attempt Rating Scale (LSARS), an Anglo-American instrument for estimation of the dangerousness of suicide attempts, was translated into German, adapted for local use and partially revised. Besides mechanical injuries, which were already covered in the original version, special emphasis has been placed on an adequate selection of potentially dangerous chemical substances and pharmaceuticals. The German adaptation of the LSARS-II provides a means for an objective estimation of the dangerousness of suicide attempts and offers a standardized form for communication, which can be universally understood. © 2008 Springer Medizin Verlag.
