Abstract

Elevated blood pressure and respiratory and heart rate, panic attacks, insomnia and runaway thoughts involving suicide and worthlessness, are indicative of anxiety with melancholic features • Simple relaxation exercises, referral to a psychologist for CBT and building psychosocial support networks are good first-line treatments • Herbs with hypnotic properties may help with sleep, as can exercise • Dietary changes to combat anxiety include more regular, healthy meals and water consumption.
