Abstract

The case study of a depressive adolescent patient who as a child was seriously traumatized and abused and showed manifold further symptoms (as self injury, adipositas, suicidal tendencies, learning disturbances, sleeping disorder) serves as an example to illustrate diverse possibilities of specifically depression oriented intervention, different analytic attitudes and therapeutic approaches. The diagnostics is oriented at the descripition of Sandler and Joffe (1980) of the depressive reaction. Depreciation, sexualization and the experience of being lost lead in the therapeutic process at length into restoring the good object and initiating integrative processes. The therapy of 180 sessions lasted for three years from the patient's age of 15 to 18.
