Abstract

Major depression with psychotic features is a significant public health problem, associated with severe of depressive symptoms, significant functional impairment, high risk of suicide and relapse, low rate of recovery, and frequent hospital admissions. This issue of Psychiatric Annals reviews existing clinical evidence on the diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of psychotic major depression and describes a new study designed specifically to fill the gaps in research into this often debilitating disorder.
