Abstract

For centuries, guns have been described in Turkish society as having several different functions, a concept of honor, untouchability/ confidentiality, and has become a part of traditional culture. This cultural base affects both the attitudes to and beliefs about having and using guns emerging from within society. The purpose of this article is to evaluate violence using guns, which we have become used to from reading about it in the newspapers everyday, and how it has increased based on criminal statistics, forensic data and scientific research in our country.
