Abstract

This paper consist of an investigation through the review of different text on eating disorders, according materialistic conception of history, covering conceptual definition of aesthetic consciousness, philosophy, beauty among these terms in different historical-geographic context is considered. The disease anorexia nervosa is analysed from its origins but a psychosociological analysis is carried out, leaving at edge all etiopathological-biochemical theories of the disease. Diagnostic criteria of the disease are described, illustrated from the history to our experience in medical practice. An analysis is carried out from the bioethic view and life quality is approached as a concept. Therefore, we arrive to the conclusion, among others, that respect for the anorexic patient autonomy would be equivalent to the respect of suicidal patient autonomy; by which this disease would be judged as a chronic suicide.
