Abstract

This article tackles the processes of organization and classification of knowledge in the judicial context of the Lecce tribunal by analyzing procedures through which different professional categories (the prosecution and the forensic doctor) cooperate in order to give a coherent and objective version of a particular case. It analyzes empirical data collected in the Lecce prosecution office during the handling of a suicide case. It shows how the forensic doctor, working from the victim's body, must communicate to the public prosecutor what happened at the time of the crime. The article seeks to describe the compromises and negotiation through which both of these professional categories' practices unfold.
