Abstract

The suicide of a loved one constitutes a massive psychological trauma which can lead to suicidal crises. People bereaved by suicide are at risk for committing suicide as well. Firstly, we describe this group and the particular difficulties these people have to deal with, as seen in practice. Secondly, we discuss the needs and requirements concerning health-service provision, which arise from the situation of survivors of suicide. We finally put an emphasis on self-help by describing the German organization 'Angehörige um Suizid e.V. (AGUS)'. © 2005 S. Karger GmbH.
