Abstract

Health risks for healthcare workers are summarized. Physical risks (i.g. radiation, X-ray), risks by chemicals and drugs, infection risks, accidents and diseases influenced by conditions of the work place, problems of work organization (shift work) and psycholoical risks (i.g. burnout, suicide) are mentioned. Special risks for the staff of endoscopy units are discussed in more detail. Recommendations for prevention of health risks in endoscopy are stressed.
