Abstract

Despite the fact that mixed states had already been described very elaborated by Kraepelin they did not get much attention for a long time. Recently, large epidemiological studies, e.g. the French EPIMAN study [2] led to a rediscovery of mixed states. However, despite their relative difficulties in treatment and the obvious danger of suicide, treatment research is still far behind. This article supplies an overview about diagnosis and psychopharmacological treatment options for this challenging condition.
