Abstract

Colleges and universities throughout the country are attempting to grapple with large numbers of highly self-destructive students. These students pose not only a danger to themselves but to their peers and the college staff who are responsible for their care and welfare. Ordinarily, in the course of dealing with such students a myriad of rather complicated clinical, ethical, and disciplinary considerations must be faced. It is these considerations that are discussed and analyzed in this paper. © 2004 by The Haworth Press, Inc. All rights reserved.
