Abstract

A sample of high-school students (221 boys, 240 girls) completed questionnaires assessing depressive and borderline symptomatology using the French versions of the Center for Epidemiological Studies-Depression scale and the Borderline Personality Inventory which evaluate different dimensions of borderline symptomatology. Multiple regression analyses showed that the main predictors of suicidal ideation were depressive symptomatology and impulsivity both in boys and girls. Among girls, the dissociative/psychotic symptomatology was also an independent predictor of suicidal ideation. The other dimensions of borderline symptomatology were not significant independent predictors of suicidal ideas. © 2004 Elsevier SAS. Tous droits réservés.
