Abstract

The objective of the study is centered in describing the characteristics of a group of patients who committed suicide during the ingress or in a time close to it. We configure a samples of suicidal behavior in function of age, clinic, and psiquiatric diagnose, based in a sample of 1200 patients ingress in the acute area between 1997 and 2003, 17 of those committed suicide, during the ingress or in a time not over a year for being the riskiest period. After data analysis 3 well difference groups were configured; young patients under 40 with psychotic diagnose whose presuicidal situation was directly related to the psychotic syndrome or personality disorder in a maladaptive situation, patients between 40 and 65 with affective disorder and under an acute stress vital situation, older patients with rigid personality and difficult adaptation to changing life events under a long stress situation.
