Abstract

With its starting point in a rather classical case of self-mutilation, this article presents a litterature review putting at the forefront personnality disorders linked to this pathology. It is more frequently encountered in border, anxious, and psychotic personnalities, linked most of the time to antecedents of suicide attempts and sexual abuses in infancy, the whole being impregnated with impulsivity. A special attention is given to self-castration. From another standpoint we realize through the litterature that adolescence is not spared this pathology, but it does appear in other forms.
