Abstract

Perfect clinicians do not exist. Only "good enough" clinicians are necessary. Optimal treatment of the suicidal patient requires a full commitment and active intervention by the clinician. When clinician factors associated with increased patient risk for suicide arise, they must be acknowledged by the clinician and managed effectively.
