Abstract

The efforts made by the Greek security and military personnel to protect all the hundred venues that are planned for the Olympic games 2004 is discussed. Such a step is taken to combat terrorist attacks for the protection of many visitors as well as the athletes. Greek officials believe they have eradicated the most deadly domestic terrorist group, 17N, with the ringleaders serving long jail sentences. Greece has conducted numerous security training exercises and scenarios including suicide bombings and aircraft hijacking have been simulated.
