Abstract

The authors present the case of unique severe suicidal attempt in the patient with acute onset of paranoid-depressive psychosis. At the first, the patient made cutting injuries of his both wrists, and then he made severe cutting injury to his neck affecting 3/4 of its circumference to the cervical spine. This injury touched the internal jugular vein only but no other vital structures in this area. Next part of the article presents review of suicides in Czech Republic in the last ten years, which shows increasing number of suicides since 1994.
